Meet Our Staff.
Nathan Montgomery
Executive Director

Nathan is the executive director and one of the mission's co-founders. His commitment to Salt & Light was born out of an early desire to serve God in the mission field. Little did he know that calling would lead him to help start a vibrant community outreach program right in his own backyard. When he's not in the office, Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife Jenny and their four children: Ashton, Benjamin, Addy and Lilly. An avid sports enthusiast, Nathan loves running, playing golf and following sports of all kinds, especially college football and basketball.
Michael Jenkins
Financial Counselor

Everyone enters their ministry at Salt & Light through a different door. For Michael Jenkins, the opportunity came when he was asked to fill in for a speaker who couldn't make it to the mission's regular Wednesday worship service. Since then, he's come onboard the staff to run the Financial Peace University program and counsel clients with specific financial needs. He loves watching those he helps make real progress with their struggles. "It's a great feeling to see a client start out not knowing how to pay their power bill and end up with a savings account while eliminating their debt," says Michael, who's enjoyed his time working with so many great people. "I just love working with other people bent on helping those in need." And once a month, you can still find Michael where he started, filling the pulpit at Salt & Light.
Josh Hoerman
Operations Director

In 2009, Josh Hoerman took a part time position in the Salt & Light warehouse. But after just one week, he knew he wanted to do more. He loved the clients. And he loved the volunteers who were faithfully serving Christ by sharing with those in need. All of that made him the ideal person to serve as our operations director when the position became available. And now, he coordinates the work of all the great volunteers on whom our mission depends.
Michelle Van Wynen
Executive Assistant

For a long time, Michelle Van Wynen drove past the Salt & Light building. But until Extreme Makeover, she had no idea of the important work taking place inside. As a volunteer, she became part of that mission, developing a heart for the people she served. So when the opportunity came to join full time, she jumped on it. Today she oversees a lot of the daily office tasks and works closely with the program's executive director on many projects. The work that she does changes lives, and in turn, that work changes her. "The volunteers, clients and people who walk in of the street keep me humble, grateful and focused on what this ministry is all about," says Michelle. "Sharing the love of God by being Salt and Light to those in need."
Peggy Borror
Accounting Director

There are a lot of good things that came out of the Extreme Home Makeover program. And Peggy is one of them. She first heard about our mission through the TV show, and after leaving a full-time accounting position elsewhere, she began volunteering at Salt & Light in May of 2010. In September of the same year, she accepted a part-time position. And she's been with us ever since, recording receipts, maintaining donor records and providing just about every financial report that Nathan, our staff and the Salt & Light board need to function. While she likes many things about her job, for Peggy, the best part is seeing how others love to help and contribute to our mission.
Robbie Watson
Operations

When he's not prepping the warehouse for food and clothing distributions, you can find Robbie Watson working on the computer lab, planning out the music for the weekly worship service or leading it with his guitar. If something needs to be done, he's on it, finding joy in the service he provides. "I don't think that my life makes sense outside of devoting my time to serving others," says Robbie, adding that "by far" the best part of his job is building relationships with volunteers and clients. According to Robbie, "We have a pretty awesome community around here!"
